August 08, 2026: catching you up on Act III!

So, here we are! In the home stretch of the first draft, I’m coming into a problem where I have too many ideas and they begin to move too fast. Luckily, my editor/best friend is reading my draft as I’m writing it and is helping me with the pacing. Truthfully, pacing has been the hardest part of this draft for me. I find that my thoughts move quickly and so does my writing, but I actually really enjoy going back through and adding some juicy tidbits in between to help with that. I knew from the time I started this draft that I didn’t want there to be much filler in the book, and I feel like every chapter, every scene, every section of dialogue has a purpose and is accomplishing something relevant to the story, so that feels like a big win so far. We’re upwards of 35k words now, so hold onto your hats people, we’re coming in hot!

August 15, 2026: FINISHED FIRST DRAFT!!!

I really thought this drafting series would take me longer, but I finished my first draft this week! Which means, after powering through the drafting process it is now time to prep for editing. My editing Author’s Journal series will start next week. For now, enjoy meeting Olivia’s Ladies under the character profiles page, and I’ll be back with more updates soon :)
